Cyberknife

Extreme precision in treating cancer is now possible thanks to the world’s only robotic radio-surgical system called CyberKnife. High doses of radiation are employed to treat the cancer both in brain and in the rest of the body, keeping all your normal tissues preserved from the radiation effects. Device controlled by a computer program is moving all around the patient and performing radiation therapy to specific places on the body, from various angles. Some of the cutting edge technologies are hosted within the CyberKnife subsystems, which is another reason why this instrument can specify the place that contains tumor, all guided by supreme imaging system. Tumor is than treated with currently the highest possible precision.

What are the treatable conditions?

Nowadays, it is possible to treat lesions and cancers throughout the entire body, which is approved by FDA. To properly determine the approach to treatment, consultations between patient and doctor is necessary. CyberKnife treatment must comply to one of following conditions:

Techniques used in the application of Radiation Oncology:

SRT / SRS:

Stereotactic Radio-surgery (SRS)

Before the procedure, target tumor area is provided by 3-dimensional coordinates. Then, tumor is completely removed and destroyed in a single session, by applying large doses of radiation.

Stereotactic Radio-therapy (SRT)

When the SRS method is repeated for more than one time (three to five), then it is called Stereotactic Radio-therapy.
